  • Tomsk Polytechnic University (Tomsk, Western Siberia, Russia) realizes the program on the development of scientific research and expert preparation in the field of hydrogen energy technologies, renewable energy sources and energy saving.
The purpose of this work is the creation of preparation system of top-level specialist able to provide ecological and energy safety of the country in the engineering aspect. This goal is obtained by the application of new educational programs and creation of special center of advanced preparation of top-level experts in the field of hydrogen energy, renewable energy sources and energy saving.
The requirements to the entry-level students and specialists in the field of hydrogen energy, content of educational programs and separate courses, requirements to the educational manuals, teaching methods, adaptation of young specialists at the working places after having finished the educational process are discussed in the report.
The authors of the report believe that the work on the education of students in the field of hydrogen energy can be successful only if it is closely combined with the scientific research in this direction. That is why the laboratory of materials science for hydrogen energy, radiation physics of solids, plasma technologies has been created as the part of the center.
Some results of the performed scientific investigations on the materials science problems for hydrogen energy, particularly, for the hydrogen behavior in metals, plasma coating deposition to the hydrogen fuel element details and others are presented in the report.
