  • A number of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies are getting close to commercialization while others are a few years away. Thus, it is vital that new measures be put in place to facilitate their market entry on a global basis. "One Product, one Standard, one Test" is not just a slogan at ISO. It is a drive aimed at assisting companies to move their products quickly to global markets. The challenge is to develop performance based regulations, codes and standards that are globally harmonized. To achieve this, the leadership of industry and governments have to work in a coordinated manner with international regulations, codes and standards bodies. It is time to bring stakeholders together in an effort to safely lead the hydrogen community to commercialization through globally harmonized regulations, codes and standards. This is a double-barrelled challenge, but one that needs to be done.
